2026 Striper Catch & Release Rules
1. Registration is by boat rather than angler.
2. At least one representative MUST attend the Captain’s Meeting to register and receive all pertinent tournament information
including the official measuring device.
3. Each boat is eligible to win ONLY ONE PRIZE OR ONE PLACE.
4. In the event of a tie, the prize money will be split equally.
5. In the event all places are not filled with qualifying fish, the remaining prize money shall be split proportionately between the
other winners.
6. This is a Catch, Photo and Release tournament. Only fish caught and photographed on entered boats during the tournament and sent to the official tournament email address jcsa@rbbc.comcastbiz.net will be considered. Boat number must be in photo.
7. All striped bass will be judged by length only. All striped bass will be measured utilizing the measuring device supplied to the
tournament participant at the Captain’s Meeting. For measuring purposes the overall length will be the measurement from the
tip of the closed mouth to the fork of the tail. A detailed demonstration of proper measurement will be provided at the Captain’s Meeting. All fish will be measured to the next 1/2".
8. All emailed photos must include the correct date and time of when fish was caught in the properties settings of the photo and
must also include the boat’s tournament registration number.
9. The tournament committee reserves the right to disqualify any fish if the length of the fish cannot be determined by the photo provided.
10. Winners will be determined by members of the Tournament Committee after reviewing emailed photographs. The Stringer Calcutta winner will be determined by the total combined length of the THREE longest striped bass submitted by the same participant.
11. All FEDERAL and NEW JERSEY STATE regulations in affect at the time of the tournament will apply.
12. Positively no transferring of any fish between anglers and/or boats.
13. All boats and anglers participate in the tournament at their own risk.
14. All winners receiving prize money must submit their Social Security number and proper ID BEFORE PRIZES ARE AWARDED.
Winners must also complete the required paperwork at the time of the awards presentation and submit the same prior to receiving any prize money. NO EXCEPTIONS!
15. Any protest must be submitted to the Tournament Chairperson or his/her designee on the day of the alleged infraction. The
Chairperson or his/her designee, Tournament Committee and Weighmaster shall serve as judges and all decisions made will be final.
16. The Jersey Coast Shark Anglers reserve the right to retain a certified marine biologist to ensure each fish has been caught
during the tournament hours and the method caught was with rod and reel.
17. If there is an alleged infraction or question about any winning fish the captain/angler will be asked to take a polygraph test at
their expense. If either or both refuses they will automatically forfeit their place in the tournament and all monies won.
18. ALL TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
19. ALL FISH MUST BE CAUGHT IN NEW JERSEY WATERS and all anglers must obey current fishing regulations.
20. All Calcutta money less 10% charitable donations to (designated charity that year) will be refunded if no eligible fish are caught.
21. The tournament is a Captain’s Choice format. There is no weather committee and the captain will be solely responsible for
his/her decision of which day to fish.
22. To declare a fishing day you must text 732 773-9210 and leave the following message: Entrants name, Boat Number and Time
of Call. Should there be a problem the alternate number is 732-773-3409. A fishing day can only be declared via text. You will
receive a text confirming your intent to fish.
23. Boats may not leave their inlet prior to 5 a.m. and must be inside their home inlet by 6 p.m.
24. If due to weather conditions the tournament must be cancelled the winners will be drawn from a hat. If NO qualifying fish are
caught, winners will be drawn from a hat.
I AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES AND REGULATIONS SET FORTH ABOVE AND WILL CONDUCT MYSELF IN A SPORTSMANLIKE MANNER WHILE PARTICIPATING IN THIS TOURNAMENT. I ALSO RELEASE THE JERSEY COAST SHARK ANGLERS, ITS OFFICERS, TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE AND S SPONSORS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY FOR PERSONAL INJURY ARISING FROM PARTICIPATION IN THIS TOURNAMENT. I HAVE ADVISED MY CREW, MATE(S) AND PAYING ANGLERS FISHING THE TOURNAMENT WITH ME THAT THE ABOVE MENTIONED PARTIES WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PROPERTY LOSS OR PERSONAL INJURY OCCURRING DURING TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION. I FURTHER CERTIFY THAT I AM THE OWNER AND/OR OPERATOR OF THE VESSEL AND I SPECIFICALLY CONFIRM TO THE JERSEY COAST SHARK ANGLERS AND THEIR INSURANCE CARRIER THAT I HAVE PROTECTION AND INDEMNITY INSURANCE COVERAGE OF THE VESSEL AND AS AN ANGLER I HAVE INSURANCE
COVERAGE AND SHALL PROVIDE THE NAME, ADDRESS AND POLICY NUMBER OF THE CARRIER TO THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE UPON ITS REQUEST.
